Virtual Amer Service can be used to complete visa processes via video conferencing services

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) – Dubai, showcasing the technology at Gitex Global 2023, said that the Virtual Amer Service is easy to use and there is no need to physically visit any Amer centre in Dubai to complete the process, as this can be done anywhere via video conferencing services. Instead of a chatbot mimicking human speech, a real person conducts the remote service, enabling clients to see and communicate with an officer directly to resolve their issue.

All visa types, including residence, student, and visitation visas as well as green and golden visas, can be issued and renewed using the web service. For consumers who have previously submitted an application but the processing of it was delayed due to a missing or unclear document, video conferencing is utilised to remedy the delay.

When the first phase of the video call service was launched in the first quarter of 2023, GDRFA-Dubai previously reported that 250,000 transactions were performed in the first two months.

The Virtual Amer Service is now accessible from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays (Monday through Friday), but it will eventually be available around-the-clock.

Customers can reach the Amer call centre by calling the toll-free number 8005111, which is open 24/7, in addition to the Virtual Amer Service.
