Violators can get fines up to Dh100,000 under the new UAE personal status laws

Violations of the new personal status law in the UAE could result in fines of up to Dh100,000. Under the statutes, vulnerable groups are protected, and custodians who travel with a kid in their custody without the guardian's or the court's permission face fines. Furthermore, those who mistreat, disregard, or decline to care for their parents face fines under the order.

In addition to imprisonment, custodians who break the travel rules may be fined between Dh5,000 and Dh100,000. Additionally, the law deals with financial misbehavior, punishing those who embezzle, waste, or improperly handle children' money.

The law emphasizes the value of familial responsibilities; those who mistreat, assault, neglect, or refuse to care for a parent, or who abandons them in need of care even while they are capable of doing so, are subject to imprisonment and fines ranging from Dh5,000 to Dh100,000. These sanctions also apply to those who fail to provide for their parents when mandated by a court order.

The law also imposes severe penalties on anyone, whether or not they are an heir, who hides, wastes, destroys, or fraudulently seizes any portion of an estate's assets. Prison time and fines between Dh5,000 and Dh100,000 are possible outcomes for offenders.

Setting the legal marriage age at 18 and giving courts the authority to expedite cases through family reconciliation centers are two other noteworthy revisions. Furthermore, the legislation places a strong emphasis on children's best interests by letting them select which parent they want to live with when they become 15.
