News EventAttendees of the yearly Quoz Arts Fest, which is scheduled for January 27–28 at Alserkal Avenue, will have the opportunity to see an exceptional private art collection that spans two decades and features a variety of prominent Arab and international artists.
The art collector, curator, and artist Sheikha Lateefa bint Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who established Tashkeel in 2008, has collaborated with FN Designs to present a selection of her most cherished pieces, which include works by well-known Emirati artists like Abdul Qadir Al Rais and Dr. Najat Makki, as well as calligraphers Majid Alyousef and Wissam Shawkat from the United Arab Emirates.
The show will feature a wide range of media, including pieces by Monir Farmanfarmaian, which features thousands of mirror fragments, Damien Hirst's silkscreen Diligam Te Domine, which features diamond dust all over it, and stainless steel components on canvas by Korean artist Yong Rae Kwon.
Works by artists who have made use of Tashkeel's professional facilities and seminars are also on display. One such artist is Manal AlDowayan, whose 'Mother' photograph is part of her 'I Am' series. AlDowayan has been chosen as Saudi Arabia's representative artist for the 60th Venice Biennale, which takes place in April 2024. Sheikha Lateefa's private collection also includes works by Ruben Sanchez and Alonsa Guevara, two artists who were supported by Tashkeel's mentorship schemes.
