Unemployment Insurance Scheme in UAE has more than 1 million participants since its start in January

According to a recent announcement from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE), the Unemployment Insurance Scheme now has more than 1 million participants since its start in January.

The Scheme provides a low-cost job security net that supports workers' career paths and financial stability while they work for the UAE's federal government and the private sector. It seeks to increase the competitiveness of the labour market by implementing novel mechanisms without increasing costs to employers.

The Scheme "has had a positive impact on the labour market," according to Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, who also called it a "driver of growth for the UAE's economic sectors."

He urged everyone who is qualified to enrol in the Unemployment Insurance Scheme to do so, as well as employers to support their workers' enrollment.
