UAE Tour Women cycling race on Thursday; traffic will be temporarily suspended on some roads in Dubai

News EventThe Road and Transport Authority said on Wednesday that due to the UAE Tour Women cycling competition on Thursday, traffic would be momentarily prohibited on several routes in Dubai. According to RTA, the suspension will occur at certain junctions during the competitors' pass-through period, which is from 1.30 to 4.30 p.m. for ten to fifteen minutes. In cooperation with the Dubai Police, the suspension will occur.
The authorities recommended drivers refer to the route map for further information. Road users are advised by Dubai Police to abide by traffic systems, directions, guidelines, and laws. They are reminded of the significance of being cautious, lowering their speed, and using other routes.
The Tour's second iteration happens from February 8–11.
On Thursday, the cyclists will go 122 km in the opening stage, dubbed the Dubai Stage, from Dubai Miracle Garden to Dubai Harbour. The cyclists will begin at Dubai Miracle Garden and travel by iconic locations including Global Village, Al Qudra Cycle Track, and Dubai Sports City before coming to an end at Dubai Harbour.
Twenty teams of six riders each (seven UCI Women's Continental Teams and thirteen UCI Women's World Teams) will participate in the only women's World Tour event in the Middle East. Italian Elisa Longo Borghini, the winner of the previous year's race, is one of the teams.
The Dubai Stage, the Modon Stage (113km), the Presight Stage (128km), and the Aldar Stage (105km) are the four stages that make up the Tour.
On Friday, the second stage will take place in Abu Dhabi, going from Al Mirfa Bab Al Nojoum to Madinat Zayed. On Saturday, the third stage travels from the Al Ain Police Museum to Jebel Hafeet.
The cyclists will begin the fourth and final stage at the Abu Dhabi Breakwater and end it at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum.
