UAE secured top rank in the Mena region and 18th globally in the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index

As it continues to make incredible progress towards becoming the world's finest tourist destination by 2031, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) won top rank in the Mena region and leapt seven places to 18th place globally in the World Economic Forum's Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024.

According to the TTDI report, the UAE ranks first globally in terms of air transport infrastructure and the provision of travel and tourism data; second globally in terms of infrastructure and services; and third globally in terms of the comprehensiveness of travel and tourism data, the effectiveness of air transport services, and travel and tourism policy and infrastructure.

The country ranks first globally in six indicators and is among the top five in 15 others and the top 10 in 27. The UAE also achieved progress in a total of 32.

In order to establish itself as a premier worldwide travel destination by 2031, the United Arab Emirates has set lofty targets in its National Tourism Strategy 2031. By 2031, the plan hopes to bring in Dh100 billion in investments, increase the tourism sector's GDP contribution by Dh450 billion, and welcome 40 million hotel guests annually. It naturally contributes to the D33 Dubai Economic Agenda as well.

In order to progress the travel and tourism industry, businesses, governments, international organisations, and others can use the WEF index as a strategic measuring tool.
