UAE’s first smart taxis, powered by AI will hit the roads in the next two months

According to a senior Hyundai UAE official, the first smart taxis in the area will go on the road in the next two months. They will be equipped with cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology, an inside monitor system, route optimisation, streaming services, and other stylish features. At the two-day Abu Dhabi Smart City Summit, the Hyundai AI Smart Taxi—a hybrid Sonata automobile dressed in the silver livery of the Capital's public taxis—was the main attraction.

Hyundai UAE is in negotiations with both governmental and private sector entities, such as the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai and the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi. The introduction of smart taxis will usher in a new era of AI, safety, and security in the nation, according to Suliman Al Zaben, director of Hyundai UAE.

In order to safeguard the passengers and prevent accidents, each cab is outfitted with four Al-equipped cameras that track a variety of parameters, such as the driver's attentiveness, response time, and other safety signs. The lost and found function of the smart taxi can locate goods that customers may have left behind in the car and send images and information to the control centre, which will alert the driver before the customer gets out.

By utilising Edge computing, the cab reduces bandwidth use and enhances reaction times. Two interactive panels provide passengers with information on the driver, the tourist destinations, and other facts about the journey.
