The UAE’s Central Bank (CBUAE) announced Monday it has issued a new Dh100 banknote just ahead of the Eid Al Fitr vacation. Made of polymer, the Central Bank stated it has incorporated novel designs and enhanced security measures while constructing the currency.
A component of the CBUAE's Third Issuance of the National Currency Project is the new Dh100 notes. A historical and cultural landmark, the Um Al Quwain National Fort, is depicted on the front of the new banknote, while the Port of Fujairah is shown on the back.
A statement from the CBUAE stated that all banks and exchange houses have been directed to program their cash deposit machines and counting devices to ensure acceptance of these new banknotes alongside existing paper and polymer banknotes, whose value is guaranteed by law. The new banknote design features various shades of red, and the CBUAE also maintained the color characteristics of the current denomination to ensure public recognition. The new banknote will be circulated with the existing Dh100 note starting March 24.
