UAE pilgrims must take all required doses of vaccination, especially influenza, before travelling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and Haj rituals

UAE pilgrims must receive all necessary vaccinations, notably influenza shots, and adhere to all guidelines and safety measures before they travel to Saudi Arabia for the Umrah and Hajj observance. Beginning on March 26, visitors visiting Saudi Arabia will need to provide proof of influenza vaccination, according to the UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention. Its commitment to preventing infectious illnesses from endangering the health and safety of pilgrims, Haj performers, their families, and other societal sectors includes the implementation of this preventative step.

Travellers with chronic diseases in particular are advised by the authorities to visit health facilities well in advance of departure. Vaccinations are widely accessible for the prevention and management of infectious and communicable illnesses at both public and private health facilities.

The Ministry has provided important pre-travel recommendations:

  • To guarantee immunisations are effective and offer enough immunity, make sure they are given at least ten days before departure.
  • Seeking medical advice from a doctor for people with long-term health issues to make sure they are well enough to perform the Hajj and Umrah and to bring enough medicine with them.
  • Following the recommended and required immunisation schedule and getting regular exercise.

The Ministry also made it clear that anyone who have already taken the influenza vaccine within the last year are not required to get it again. Vaccination cards that have been approved can be obtained using the Al Hosn application and shown at travel checkpoints.

  • Are deemed to be overweight (with a Body Mass Index of over 40)

Adults and toddlers older than two years old can receive the pneumococcal vaccination.

The Saudi Arabian authorities advise travellers 65 years of age and older to have this immunisation before departing, as well as younger persons who have:

  • Chronic conditions include diabetes, heart disease, liver and kidney disease, lung illness (including asthma), and
  • Anaemia with sickle cells
  • Having a damaged or absent spleen
  • Additional illnesses or compromised immune systems that might increase their danger
