UAE passport authority announced the extension of the validity period of Emirati passports to 10 years

The UAE passport authority has formally declared that Emirati passports would henceforth have a 10-year validity span. The new service will be made available to citizens 21 years of age and older on Monday, July 8, 2024, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).

The passport typically has a five-year validity period from the date of issuing.

The government's attempts to simplify bureaucracy and save people' time will be aided by the new 10-year passport service, which will also cut the customer journey from two journeys to just one every 10 years.

The present passport delivery routes and established processes will be followed in the issuance of the new 10-year Emirati passports. The new service will be available to citizens at the expiration of their current passports or, if earlier, until all of its pages have been utilised.

There are several easy ways for UAE nationals to extend their new 10-year passports. On a national level, individuals can submit an application via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs' local passport office.

Citizens can visit special passport offices at the airports in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah for emergency renewals; these offices are available around-the-clock to meet any pressing need. The new 10-year passport service is also accessible to foreign nationals via UAE embassies and consulates in their home nations.
