UAE motorists will face a maximum fine of Dh10,000 annually under the updated terms and conditions of Salik

According to the revised terms and conditions of Dubai's toll gate operator - Salik, drivers in the UAE would be subject to a maximum punishment of Dh10,000 per car yearly. The maximum cumulative penalty for violations of the Salik tolling system that may be assessed per vehicle under the new terms will be limited to Dh10,000 for each calendar year, starting on January 1 and ending on December 31.

Only if the toll violation was recorded in the driver's file within the previous 13 months of the violation's issue date may a driver challenge a toll violation for passing through a Salik toll gate. No Salik account amount, or a portion of the balance, will be reimbursed to the user under the new terms or moved to another Salik account.

This is a result of Salik's service expansion in Dubai. Under a five-year contract, Salik gates were put at the Dubai Mall as of July 1. The mall offers 24-hour parking for as much as Dh1,000, with rates ranging from Dh20 per hour.

While Dubai Mall supplies the necessary office space, local infrastructure, and car park upkeep, Salik is in charge of designing, funding, developing, implementing, and overseeing the parking payment collecting system. With more than 4.1 million registered automobiles, Salik has a strong penetration rate.

Customers were requested by the corporation to report any faulty tags within ninety days of becoming aware of the issue. Once the flaw has been confirmed, the tag will be changed without charging you more. To deactivate the Salik Tag linked to a car or plate, a Salik client must promptly contact the firm using the permitted communication channels if the plate or vehicle is lost or stolen.

The toll operator clarified that if no balance recharges, tolls, or payments are sent to a Salik account for five years, the account will be considered dormant. Any balance that remains in the account will be lost when it becomes inactive. The new improvements were released to the public about a month ago.
