Retailers and businesses in the UAE can now accept contactless payments directly through an iPhone using the newly introduced 'Tap to Pay' feature. Enabled by Magnati and Network International, this innovation supports transactions via credit, debit, prepaid cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets. Merchants only require an iPhone and the SwipeX iOS app to process payments.
With contactless payments making up over 95% of in-person transactions in the UAE, this new feature offers businesses a seamless and secure way to enhance customer experiences. Using NFC technology, merchants prompt customers to hold their contactless payment method near the iPhone to complete transactions securely, utilizing the device's built-in safety protocols.
“Tap to Pay on iPhone equips UAE businesses with an efficient, secure solution that aligns with consumer preferences, driving sales and convenience,” said officials. This feature further strengthens the UAE’s position as a leader in adopting innovative payment technologies.
