UAE makes significant changes to its residency regulations effective from September 1

The UAE's residence laws will be significantly changed as of September 1st. The following are the main residence infractions that result in deportation:

Overstaying: Strict and exact visa expiry restrictions apply in the United Arab Emirates. Even a small delay might result in significant penalties and perhaps deportation.

Illegal employment: Holding a job without a current work permit is a major offence that carries heavy penalties. There is danger for both companies and employees. If an employee is found to be working without the required authorisation, they might be deported right away, and their employers could be hit with harsh financial penalties.

Criminal activity: The consequences are severe for both small and major acts. No wiggle space or second chances are allowed.

Failure to renew residency permits: It is the residents' duty to make sure their permits are up to date and to apply for renewals well in advance of their expiration.

A resident visa might be valid for one, two, three, five, or ten years, depending on your circumstances and the kind of visa, which is typically sponsored by your employer or educational institution.

Individuals with UAE resident visas for less than five years must rely on a sponsor, whereas those with lengthier visas can sponsor themselves.

If you are applying for a UAE resident visa and are over the age of 18, you will also need to apply for an Emirates ID, pass a security check, and finish a medical test.

The effects of new regulations:

Improved reporting and monitoring: The UAE has implemented sophisticated monitoring tools to closely monitor visa statuses and residence compliance.

Penalties and fines have increased significantly: Overstaying and working illegally are two major infractions that carry steep fines.

Streamlined deportation procedures: The deportation procedure has been made quicker and more effective by the new rules.
