The UAE announced the 10-year residency permit details at the World Governments Summit 2025 on Tuesday, marking the start of the Blue Visa's first phase. In this phase, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment will award Blue Visas to twenty sustainability thought leaders and innovators.
The 10-year resident visa known as the "Blue visa" is intended for people who, both inside and outside the United Arab Emirates, have made outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability and protection. Members of international organizations, multinational corporations, associations, non-governmental organizations, worldwide award winners, and eminent environmental activists and scholars are among those granted this visa in support of environmental action.
The Golden and Green Residencies, which were introduced first, are being extended by the Blue Visa.
According to established processes on the ICP's website, applications filed by pertinent government agencies in the sustainability sectors can be used to get electronic clearance in the first phase of the electronic system. Experts and advocates for sustainability who are interested in acquiring the UAE's Blue visa may apply directly to the ICP or by being nominated by appropriate UAE authorities. Subject to authorized terms and circumstances, the ICP will give qualified individuals round-the-clock access to the Blue Visa service via its website and mobile application.
