UAE-Korea research collaboration for smart agriculture focuses on projects for the early detection of infections and controlling factors impacting plant growth

The UAE-Korea research collaboration for smart agriculture is concentrating on initiatives that use cutting-edge technology to identify diseases early and manage elements that affect plant development. A team from the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) representing the Applied Research and Capacity Building Division recently attended a scientific conference in Korea on cooperative research initiatives.

The conference focused on analysing research findings and experiments from two research partnership projects between ADAFSA and the Rural Development Department of the Republic of Korea. Three ADAFSA experts offered talks at the conference, presenting the findings of the Korean Protected House project to design a smart cultivation system that uses modern technology to monitor and manage environmental elements impacting plant development. The researchers also presented data from a study that supports the geophysical and biological monitoring of palms. The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of sap flow sensors in detecting red palm weevil infestations, which pose a severe threat to the region's palm plants.
