UAE Immediately Cancels EmSAT for 12th Grade Students

The UAE authorities have announced the immediate cancellation of the EmSAT exam for Grade 12 students, introducing new criteria for university admissions. Under the revised policy, admission into fields such as medicine and engineering will now focus on students' performance in science-related subjects rather than their overall percentage scores. This shift aims to ensure that candidates entering specialized fields have strong foundational knowledge in relevant subjects, aligning with the evolving standards in higher education.

This change will allow universities greater flexibility in establishing their own admission criteria, opening up diverse academic pathways tailored to students' strengths and interests. According to the ministry, the adjustment aims to create a smoother transition into higher education, empowering students to align their academic choices with their long-term career aspirations. This approach supports a more personalized educational journey, fostering both academic and professional growth.

Higher education institutions will now have the ability to attract students who fall short of the English language proficiency requirements by offering them courses designed to enhance their skills to meet those standards. Additionally, universities can admit students who do not achieve the necessary grades in specific subjects by enrolling them in targeted remedial programs, ensuring they gain the foundational knowledge needed for their chosen fields of study. This initiative aims to support students in bridging gaps in their education, facilitating their academic success.
