Total number of green buildings in Ajman reaches 8,335 buildings

Based on the green construction criteria for residential structures, the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman has reported that the total number of green buildings in the emirate has reached 8,335 buildings. This complies with the laws of the state and exemplifies the approaches used in the Year of Sustainability, which is now in its second year and has demonstrated measurable benefits.

A green or sustainable building may preserve or even raise the standard of living in the surrounding area due to the design and characteristics of its construction. The green buildings open the door to more environmentally responsible urban development, from box homes and residential villas to massive skyscrapers and unique constructions.

One of the newest trends in urban planning is the creation of eco-neighbourhoods, which are developments designed to lessen their negative effects on the environment and encourage residents to take greater responsibility for their surroundings. Therefore, sustainable buildings reduce their use of water and energy and are an important component of sustainable urban development, which aims to mitigate climate change.

The municipality met its 2023 target for the number of green buildings, according to Engineer Khalifa Abdullah Al Falasi, Director of Buildings at the department. This was made possible by the drive to apply the standards and requirements of green buildings for new residential villas in the emirate, which increased energy efficiency, rationalised water consumption, and raised building vitality.
