The Traffic and Licensing Services Center of Sharjah Police has launched the drive, Renew Your Vehicle Campaign

NewsIn addition to reminding thousands of car owners with expired registration to renew them right away in order to stay safe and avoid fines, Sharjah Police on Thursday announced a 90-day grace period. The campaign will officially commence on June 15. Driving a car with an expired registration is punishable by a Dh400 fine, four traffic points, and a seven-day impoundment, as per UAE Traffic Federal Law.
The "Renew Your Vehicle Campaign" initiative was launched by the Traffic and Licencing Services Centre of the Sharjah Police in collaboration with the department's strategic partners, represented by Rafid, Motorgic, and ENOC, in Arabic, English, and Urdu.
Col. Khalid Al Kay, Director of the Vehicles and Drivers Licencing Department, Col. Omar Bughanim, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Drugs Department, Col. Rashid Ahmed Al-Fardan, Head of the Drivers Licencing Department, Lt Col. Abdul Rahman Khater, Head of the Vehicles Licencing Department, and media representatives attended the event held at Sharjah Police Traffic and Licencing Department.
Col. Al Kay advised motorists to attend the technical inspection and customer service centres as soon as possible to renew their vehicle registration and make sure it is safe to drive.The initiative, according to the official, is a component of Sharjah Police's effort to increase safety and security on the roads and protect the safety of road users, particularly in the summer when high temperatures may cause damage to some car components. He cited the opening of 18 technical vehicle inspection locations in the Emirate of Sharjah, the eastern area, and the central region.
In Sharjah, 263,804 vehicles were inspected during the first half of 2023, while 376,033 vehicles were registered.
Director of the Department of Accidents and Roadside Services at Rafid Company, Abdul Rahman bin Kannoun Al Shamsi, stated that they will support the awareness campaign by integrating their own customer database and using social media.
Additionally, clients may request a mobile vehicle inspection crew to undertake on-site inspections by using the Rafid smart app or by phoning the Rafid call centre. If the vehicle was manufactured within the last three years, a Rafid team will visit the car owner and conduct an examination there. The business is dispersing discount coupons, in addition to this, encouraging owners to get routine car maintenance performed.
