Dubai Design District (d3) will be buzzing with the city’s local art scene from Tuesday November 7 to Sunday November 12 as Dubai Design Week 2023 will be held during these days. The region’s largest event which is in its 10th year is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum, chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and member of Dubai Council.
There are lots of events included such as free workshops, pop-ups, talks, and design experiences.
Downtown Design - Downtown Design, one of Dubai Design Week's most well-liked events, will be held at the d3 Waterfront Terrace from Wednesday, November 8, through Saturday, November 11. Local artists will share their latest collections, designs, and projects here. This is for you if you're interested in interior design.
ABWAB - This recurring show, which in Arabic means "doors," celebrates design from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Abdalla Almulla, the founder of the MULA design studio and an Emirati architect, used sustainable techniques to construct a pavilion this year. Performances will be held here during the six-day festival.
Installations - Throughout the week, interesting artworks will take over d3, such as The Altostrata, a 3D-printed pavilion constructed of biodegradable sugar-based substance. Additionally, Wael Al Awar and Kazuma Yamao, architects, will create a traditional shelter using ecological cement substitutes.
The Marketplace - The Marketplace in the heart of d3 will be open from Saturday, November 11, to Sunday, November 12. You may sample a variety of foods and purchase for handcrafted and sustainably sourced things. In the meanwhile, kid-friendly activities will keep youngsters occupied.
Exhibitions and pop-ups - One of the main attractions of Design Week is the numerous free exhibits and pop-ups. Highlights for 2023 include the 100/100 Best Arabic Poster, which showcases the creations of up-and-coming designers from the United Arab Emirates. The Royal College of Art in London will host an exhibition that looks at sustainable design.
The public is welcome to attend the schedule of masterclasses, seminars, and workshops, although it hasn't been announced yet. A variety of speakers will discuss a wide range of design-related topics.
