Dubai will host one of the most well-known Broadway and West End musicals, next year. The Phantom of the Opera, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, will take over the stage at Dubai Opera, from Thursday, February 22 through Sunday, March 10,
Tickets for the romantic musical, which will run for two hours and 45 minutes, are currently available on the Dubai Opera website starting at Dhs250. The Phantom of the Opera, Think of Me, and Music of the Night will all be included in the revamped production, which is expected to have 100 cast, crew, and musicians.
The play, which is inspired by Gaston Leroux's famous novel Le Fantôme de L'Opéra, depicts the story of a deformed musical prodigy known only as the Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House under the control of its new owners Andre and Firmin.
Christine, a young soprano, captures the Phantom's attention with her beauty and ability, and he later falls in love with her. The Phantom's infatuation lays the stage for a dramatic turn of events because he is unaware of Christine's love for another man.
Over 70 prestigious theatre prizes have been bestowed to The Phantom of the Opera, including four Olivier prizes in London's West End and seven Tony Awards on Broadway.
