The Ministry of Interior has launched a national campaign to protect children from balcony accidents

The motto for the national campaign, "The lives of our children are a trust," sponsored by the Ministry of Interior's Centre for Child Protection is, "The lives of our children are a trust."

The programme seeks to increase community awareness of the significance of ongoing observation and observance of required precautions to safeguard kids from falling out of open windows.

The campaign will include advice on how to prevent incidents involving kids falling from windows and balconies as well as instructional instructions. Additionally, in collaboration with key partners, it will turn on an integrated smart system to disseminate awareness via different social media platforms.

Article 349 of the UAE Federal Penal Code stipulates that whoever, by himself or by means of others, endangers a juvenile under 15 years of age, or a person unable to protect himself due to his health, mental or psychological condition, shall be punished by detention for a period not exceeding two years. The penalty increases to three years if the child is left unattended at the time of an incident.

The campaign will host discussion sessions and specific workshops with subject-matter experts in order to meet its objectives. It will also increase media awareness in a number of languages.

Additionally, it will include awareness-raising publications and movies that represent the theme and significance of the campaign.

The Ministry of Interior's smart reporting system, the hotline at 116111, as well as electronic reporting through the Ministry of Interior Centre for Child Protection's website (www.moi-cpc.gov.ae), email [email protected], and the Hemayati app for mobile devices will all be made available to the public through the campaign.

The Ministry of Interior Centre for Child Protection is responsible for developing, implementing and coding initiatives and procedures meant to provide safety, security and protection for all children living in the UAE or visiting with their families.
