The Ministry of Interior announced new rules that prohibit people from gathering near or entering flooded valleys or dams during bad weather

New UAE rules that punish locals who put their lives in jeopardy by venturing out to valleys and hilly regions during unreliable weather have received acclaim from rescue volunteers and experts. When the nation is afflicted by a lot of rain, many citizens engage in "storm chasing." Despite the government' cautions and notifications, they purposefully travel to places where flash floods are common.

The Ministry of Interior issued new regulations on Thursday that make it illegal to congregate close to or go inside dams or flooded valleys during inclement weather. These days, doing so carries penalties including up to Dh2,000 in fines, 23 black points, and two months of vehicle impoundment.

Many motorists enter valleys without comprehending how rapidly the water level might increase and how easily their cars could become entangled in the powerful currents, according to experts.

UAE Rescue Group is a volunteer-run organisation that was established in 2018 and has conducted several rescue missions around the nation.

The new legislation will improve transportation safety during crises and when torrential rains flood valleys, according to the Interior Ministry. "The goal of these revisions is to support the institutional and legal actions of relevant authorities during times of crises, disasters, torrential rain, and weather changes. The changes to the articles are intended to strengthen current practises and emphasise the value of following directions and safety regulations, the ministry noted.
