EventIn Dubai this September, the opulent Italian fashion house Bulgari will present an exclusive Serpenti 75th exhibition. The Bulgari Serpenti 75 Years of Infinite Tales exhibition, which will be held at Dubai DIFC's Gate Building, will feature both expensive Serpenti items and the Heritage Collection. It will be open to the public from September 15 to 24.
The first Serpenti design by Bulgari, which is well-known for its renowned lines of jewellery, watches, perfumes, and leather items, was introduced in 1948. Since then, people all across the world have been moved by this legendary serpent as painters, authors, and poets.
Bulgari has started an artistic effort called Serpenti Factory to commemorate this momentous event. Here, a number of the most well-known Serpenti pieces from the Bulgari Heritage Collection will be on display, together with information on how these works highlight the history, exceptional workmanship, inventiveness, and impact of the Maison. Three local artists, including Dr. Azra Khamissa, Dr. Afra Atiq, and Azza Al Qubaisi, will participate in the show as part of this fascinating endeavour to present their artistic interpretations of the Serpenti insignia.
Dr. Azra Khamissa's artwork, which is based on the Serpenti myth, is influenced by Bedouin tenacity in order to convey the analogy between the serpent's capacity to adapt and human resilience. Her preferred medium as a henna artist and designer is natural henna, which she has utilised to illustrate the connectivity of generations and cultures against a natural setting. Her creations are a reflection of the Swana region's rich local culture, heritage, and aesthetics, where henna customs are highly valued.
Dr. Afra Atiq, an Emirati spoken word poet and co-founder of the Untitled Chapters, a group of female Emirati poets, was inspired to compose a poem by the Serpenti Viper necklace, Serpenti Tubogas watch, and Serpenti bracelet from Bulgari, which frequently include curving and winding features. The poem honours continuity by employing metaphors and images related to snakes and emphasising the shedding of snakeskin as a sign of human development. In keeping with Serpenti's creations, the poem interprets this idea as a celebration and a voyage of self-discovery, empowerment, and everlasting beauty.
Azza Al Qubaisi, a well-known jewellery designer and sculptor, is renowned for her emphasis on indigenous materials including gold, silver, palm fronds, mild steel, and stainless steel as well as ecological practises and conventional methods. She draws inspiration from the local natural scenery and frequently uses desert forms, patterns, and textures in her artwork. Her sculpture for the Bulgari Serpenti 75th Anniversary Collaboration draws influence from nature, including movement, the environment, change, and continuity, rather than the Serpenti itself. Steel is the material she has selected because of its rusty, earthy appearance, which echoes the serpent's shedding symbolism while also representing time, development, and change. The serpenti's beauty, purity, and refinement are symbolised by the stainless steel's reflecting quality, which imitates the play of light on sand dunes and snake scales.
This September, the award-winning media artist Refik Anadol's Serpenti, which has already been in Madrid's Thyssen Museum, London's renowned Saatchi Gallery, and Milan's famous Piazza Duomo, will also arrive in DIFC. The algorithms used to create this captivating 3D AI exhibit were trained on 200 million photos of nature. The idea of metamorphosis is seen as the transformation of one form into another, turning nature into data and data into abstract, beautiful pictures.
Five unique pieces of high-end jewellery will be made available to honour the occasion and start a new chapter for Serpenti.
A 16.62-carat pink spinel from Tajikistan, tiny rose gold "scales," mother-of-pearl and pink tourmalines, pavé diamonds, and emeralds are set off by the "Crimson Rose Serpenti Necklace," a set that also includes a matching ring and bracelet.
The "Tree of Life Serpenti necklace," which is encrusted with diamonds and emeralds, will also be on display. The 'Polaris Serpenti High Jewellery Serpenti necklace', made of white gold, will be displayed last but not least. It is adorned with a brilliant-cut diamond weighing 3.55 carats and has magnificent blue sapphire eyes.
