Temporary traffic diversion on Sheikh Zayed Road on account of UAEs Union Day celebrations
29 Nov 2023
NewsThe Dubai Media Office said on Tuesday that traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi will be temporarily rerouted from the Trade Centre Roundabout to the Expo Intersection. This detour will operate for three days, from December 1 to December 3, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The action takes place on the same day that the United Arab Emirates celebrates Union Day and hosts the COP28 UN Climate Change Conference.
To guarantee efficient traffic flows, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has created a thorough traffic plan. Other routes including the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road, Emirates Road, Al Khail Road, Jumeirah Road, Al Wasl Road, and Al Khail Road will be used as part of the plan.
RTA suggests that people take public transit when commuting. It also suggests that drivers pay attention to updates on smart screen notifications and directional signs on temporary detours and other routes.
Expo City Dubai is set to host COP28 from November 30 to December 12. As part of its strategy, RTA will transport officials of official delegations across the Blue Zone and public and commercial representatives across the Green Zone.
RTA will use a variety of transport options at the event location, including the Dubai Metro, Dubai Bus, and taxis, to guarantee mobility management and efficient traffic flow. For COP28 delegates attending the conference, special edition Nol cards have been introduced enabling them to use public transportation in the country.
