In the first half of 2024, Dubai's taxi industry saw significant expansion, with a noteworthy rise of 500,000 trips over the same time the previous year.
There were 55.7 million journeys overall, which is an increase from 55.3 million in 2023. Passenger counts also increased, from 96.2 million to 96.9 million, in tandem with this development. The industry also had a notable increase in the number of cars and workers, as the fleet grew by 644 to 12,778 and the number of drivers increased from 26,000 to 30,000.
The success of Hala Taxi, an e-hail service, which accounted for 40% of all taxi trips in the first half of 2024—a 5% increase from the previous year—was a major factor in the sector's rise. Furthermore, compared to 73% during the same period previous year, 76% of Hala Taxi journeys had an average vehicle arrival time of less than 3.5 minutes. This development demonstrates the industry's increased responsiveness and efficiency.
