04 May 2024
News EventIn an effort to recognize restaurants in the Emirate for exceeding quality requirements in food safety, nutrition, sustainability, social responsibility, and innovation, Dubai Municipality has invited entries for the inaugural DM Food Elite program. The program is an outcome of the Municipality's persistent efforts and unwavering commitment to developing a sustainable food system, according to Sultan Al Taher, Director of the Food Safety Department at Dubai Municipality.
According to Al Taher, the food system meets the strictest international safety and sustainability standards, which enhances Dubai's standing as a sustainable city that offers high living standards. It also incorporates extraordinary health and food safety requirements. In support of the goals of the Dubai Food Security Strategy, the program's main goal is to honor and recognize food-related organizations and entities that have significantly advanced this system and strengthened Dubai's position as a hub for international trade.
"The program will recognize food businesses from three distinct categories," Al Taher said. Three restaurants each will be chosen from the following categories: fast food chains, cafeterias, independent dine-in restaurants, and restaurants attached to hotels. The government's health, sustainability, and food safety initiatives, as well as business innovation and digital adoption, will all be taken into consideration when evaluating and choosing the food establishments. These five criteria will be applied to the evaluation process.
Food establishments who wish to take part in the program can use the program's online website to submit their registration applications. Submissions for the program will be accepted until June 30, 2024. To participate, visit dmfoodelite.dm.gov.ae and register.
