NewsThe United Arab Emirates declared 2023 to be the "Year of Sustainability" and announced that it will host the COP28 global climate change conference later this year. It is also a hot topic at the Expand North Star event, where over 1,400 businesses from across the world are showing their goods. Schools in the United Arab Emirates are likewise embracing the trend and emphasising it to younger pupils. The students at Al Mawakeb School in Al Khawaneej, Hamad, and Dawood AlAwadhi, have created a smart greenhouse system that shields crops from climate change and global warming. This system uses a smart farm that intelligently and automatically provides the heat, water, and energy needed for plant growth throughout the year and around the clock.
The technology guarantees proper plant growth and can function autonomously without human involvement. The system was on show by the students at Hall 1 of the Expand North Star exposition, which is a component of Gitex Global, the biggest assembly of startups and technology enterprises worldwide. There are four sections to the system. First, an irrigation system gives the soil sensors to gauge its water content. The device automatically turns on the pump and waters the plants through irrigation pipes if the soil is dry. The pump automatically shuts off when the soil becomes wet.
