SRTA is working with BEEAH for the deployment and operation of EV charging infrastructure across the emirate

In an effort to promote environmentally friendly transport in the future, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) is collaborating with BEEAH, the pioneer of sustainability in the Middle East, to install and run electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure throughout the emirate, including in urban areas and coastal areas.

At the BEEAH Headquarters, Dr. Eng. Yousif Khamis Mohamed Alathmane, Chairman of SRTA, and his delegates recently met with top BEEAH Group officials and Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO and Vice Chairman of BEEAH, to explore potential and strategies for partnership.

Those wishing to convert to electric vehicles will find assistance from the EV charging network. To make charging quick, easy, and available to everyone, hundreds of chargers will be placed strategically along roads and in various districts around the emirate, covering important business and urban centres. With reduced travel times between charging stations, the new network of chargers will add fast chargers to the EV charging infrastructure already in place in the emirate and provide EV drivers more peace of mind.

In keeping with the National Electric cars Policy, which seeks to make the UAE a worldwide market for EVs and raise the percentage of EVs to 50% of all cars on the road by 2050, SRTA and BEEAH are working to improve Sharjah's network of EV chargers. The network will help Sharjah realise its goal of creating sustainable, intelligent cities and improving the standard of living for its citizens.

BEEAH has over 2,000 cars in its fleet, and it has already added a few electric vehicles (EVs). As some of its regular cars are nearing the end of their span, the company is looking at partnering to convert them into EVs. Additionally, it is testing automobiles powered by green hydrogen, an emission-free substitute for conventional fuels. To achieve net-zero emissions, BEEAH is still committed to making investments in emission-free transportation. BEEAH has pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 inside the company.
