The 15th anniversary of the Dubai Metro is approaching. On September 9, 2009, the well-known autonomous train came off the tracks for the first time. Additionally, "Metro babies"—those who were born on the same day as the Metro—are to be honoured as part of the celebrations.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced in a statement on Monday that some Metro newborns are eligible for academic funding to pursue further education.
Conditions applicable are:
- The student must be a UAE National
- Student must have been born on September 9, 2009
- He/She must have a cumulative GPA of over 90 percent
Additionally, Metro babies born between 2009 and 2023 can also attend a celebration hosted by Legoland Dubai on 21 September 2024.
