Sixteen bus stations and six bus depots will come up in Dubai soon to improve the quality of public transport services

There will soon be six bus depots and a total of sixteen bus stops in Dubai. A three-year strategy to develop these has seen many contracts given by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The aim is to enhance the services offered by public transport modes.

Sixteen stations will be enhanced for public bus passengers which include Sabkha, Jebel Ali, Al Quoz, Ibn Battuta, Hatta, Gold Souk, Al Qusais, Deira City Centre, Al Ghubaiba, Union, Al Satwa, Al Rashdiya, Abu Hail, Etisalat, and Al Karama. There are nine stations in Deira and seven in Bur Dubai. The project will include renovations to the bus passenger terminals and addition of prayer rooms at a few stops.

Six bus depots in Al Khawaneej, Al Qusais, Al Ruwyyah, Al Aweer, Jebel Ali, and Al Quoz will also be developed as part of the project. Renovations to the drainage system, floor upkeep, engine wash lanes, inspection lane redesign, new system infrastructure installation, and public facility rehabilitation are all part of this.

At the Jebel Ali and Al Quoz Depots, drivers will have residential quarters in addition to the installation of traffic lights and the construction of pavements. Five stations will have their bus parking yards redesigned. The depots at Al Khawaneej, Al Ruwyyah, and Al Aweer will serve as the first test zone.

Through the implementation of first and last-mile needs, these improvements seek to create a warm and accessible environment for People of Determination, connecting several means of transportation, development initiatives, and nearby attractions. RTA aims to promote walking and the use of personal mobility alternatives by providing features like bike racks, pedestrian crossings, walking lanes, public bus parking, and lovely landscaping.
