Sharjah's Ruler approved designs and location for a new 'Sports City' which will feature four sports complexes

The planned 'Sports City' in Sharjah has its plans and location authorised by the Ruler of Sharjah. The city will include four sporting complexes that can accommodate both team and individual sports. Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council, will choose the location for the city.

During a phone interview for the "Direct Line" program on Sharjah Radio and Television, Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, the head of the SDPW and a member of the Executive Council, made this revelation.

Al Suwaidi said that the city's layout, which consists of a central plaza that is crossed by the four main routes that enter the city, was personally drawn by the Ruler of Sharjah. These are the routes that go to Mahafiz and Al Bataeh, the road from Sharjah Sports City, the road to Al Badayer, and the road from Al Madam. The 'Sports City Stadium' will be located in the middle of this central square.

The stadium, according to Al Suwaidi, is the "first nucleus" and the first stage of the Sports City concept. Its design embodies the idea of a bird soaring over sand dunes, making it an architectural landmark.

The platform and grandstand, which mimic the sand dunes that ripple in the surrounding area, and the enormous cover, shaped like an extended bird, make up the construction. This cover's colour varies with the light of the day; it appears silver in the morning when sunlight reflects off it, and at night it takes on a golden-red tint.

Environmentally responsible, the design blends in with the site's natural features and reflects the qualities of an athlete, such as the falcon's strength, speed, and acute vision.
