NewsIt was revealed on Wednesday that Sharjah is planning to construct a passenger rail station that would link to the Etihad Rail system. The Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, was present at the project's opening. The megaproject will be located at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi House, which is close to University City of Sharjah.
Given that Etihad Train would serve college students from all across the nation, it is anticipated that passenger traffic will increase to 14,000 per day after the main railway track is connected to the station in Sharjah. A report on the state-run Wam agency states that the rail line will also travel through "essential facilities and landmarks, and population centres in Sharjah."
The declaration is in line with the UAE's goal to build passenger trains and create a secure, dependable, and effective network that links its cities and population centres.
The UAE National Rail Network, which spans more than 900 km, is currently under construction. When finished, rail passenger services will link 11 locations around the nation, including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Fujairah, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, from Al Sila to Fujairah.
