NewsIn keeping with the Sharjah Airport Authority's efforts to increase the efficiency of air cargo operations, particularly when handling cargo that requires special care, the Sharjah Airport's Cargo Centre has finished its preparations for processing horse shipments. These preparations are created to effectively fulfil the unique criteria for handling such cargo and to provide seamless facilities for accompanying horsemen to complete processes for transporting horses domestically or internationally. The relocation takes place as local and international equestrian festival and horse racing season officially kicks up.
The Sharjah Airport's Cargo Centre provides first-rate amenities and creative logistical solutions to make it easier to move purebred horses through the airport. The facilities include a designated stable on-site that ensures the horses and their companions have convenient access. Additionally, the stable will have specially designed flooring materials, such as Astroturf, that facilitate smooth mobility for horses.
These services are provided by the trained staff of Sharjah Aviation Services (SAS), the ground handling services provider at Sharjah Airport. The IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) certification, which recognises SAS's exemplary services, is a testament to its commitment to upholding the highest levels of security and safety when handling all cargo.
