Seventh edition of the Holy Quran recitation open competition, organised by ISC Abu Dhabi will start from Tuesday

Starting on Tuesday, the India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC), Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Awqaf, will host the seventh edition of the open Holy Quran reciting competition.

According to ISC president D. Natarajan, the three-day tournament is being hosted to encourage both the local population and the expat community to read, memorize, and recite the Holy Quran in a competitive setting.

We have been holding this important event at the ISC for seven years. This event is a part of our social responsibility to the community, he said.

There will be four competition categories, with the age restriction for the first 15 verses of the Quran being 25. Next, there will be 10 parts of the Quran for which the minimum age need is 20, then 5 parts for which the minimum age requirement is 15, and lastly, the recitation and Tajweed of the Quran, which is open to everyone. A distinguished jury selected by the Ministry of Awqaf will judge the tournament.

According to P. Sathyababu, general secretary of the ISC, the competition is available to UAE nationals and foreigners with legal residency.

"The Indian and neighbourhood business groups have shown strong support for the event. Both our members and the Indian expat community have given it favourable reviews.

Cash awards and souvenirs will be given to the category winners in each case. Additionally, gratitude certificates and consolation prizes will be given to each person who made the short list. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday.

"The event should draw a sizable audience. Entrance is free. Additionally, prayer spaces will be set up in the center," Sathyababu added.
