In January, Perform Sharjah will return for a second season. Building on the popularity of the previous year, an amazing new lineup of eight performances will take place in Sharjah from January 13 to February 18 in renovated heritage homes and art venues.
Artists from a variety of professions and subjects are included in the programming, guaranteeing a fascinating and varied experience. So, gather your friends and prepare to experience some very remarkable presentations.

Event: In Search of Aïda by Jalila Baccar
A reading from Jalila Baccar's In Search of Aïda, the product of a professional actors workshop in the United Arab Emirates and the wider Gulf area, opens the programming. Baccar is a theatrical icon from Tunisia. The play highlights the continuous suffering endured by Palestinians, both inside and outside of Palestine, and was first presented in 1998 to mark 50 years since the Nakba.

Event: 4 by Tao Ye
Tao Ye, a choreography by Beijing-based TAO Dance Theatre, will feature four bodies that move deliberately and with strength.

Event: Metamorphoses #2 by Essia Jaïbi
Metamorphoses #2 by Essia Jaïbi is a performance art piece that explores the artist's personal childhood recollections. In the play, Essia locks her mother Jalila Baccar in the dressing room of a make-believe theatre with glass walls and forces her to speak to the crowd. The showcase examines topics of art, drama, and cultural activism via a compelling and thought-provoking conflict between two generations. Through the performance, Essia challenges the rights of minorities and people with disabilities as well as the political, cultural, economic, environmental, and healthcare systems of Tunisia.

This multimodal event, which takes place within the Bait Al Serkal Heritage House, uses dance, poetry, drama, and video displays to explore imagination.

Event: Hunkaro by Mohit Takalka
Using ancient singing and vocal methods, this performance will be co-presented with the Ishara Art Foundation. It will share modern, intertwined stories of human adversity that are bound together by the value of hope.
