RTA’s ‘Enterprise Platform’; will analyse traffic data and identify patterns and forecasts to facilitate efficient road network planning

In the near future, Dubai will use artificial intelligence (AI) to make judgements on crowd control, route planning for public transit, and predictive maintenance for roads and bridges, among other things.

The RTA had just introduced a "Enterprise Platform" for creating and developing AI and data science solutions when this happened. It will assist in processing and reorganising RTA-owned data so that machine learning models may be trained across operations.

Applications include traffic data analysis and pattern and forecasting identification, which help with effective road network design and lessen traffic congestion.

"The launch of this platform affirms RTA's commitment to advancing Dubai's transformation into the world's smartest city," said Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the RTA Board of Executive Directors. The platform intends to improve people' wellbeing and increase sustainability and service effectiveness by utilising AI.

He said that in terms of storage capacity, the RTA has one of the largest big data platforms in the UAE. It has been integrated with the AI platform to take use of the historical data already available and create use cases that satisfy the strategic and operational needs of RTA, according to Al Tayer.

Deep machine learning models may be trained on the AI platform. It provides several pre-built machine learning methods, removing the necessity for developing source code. In order to choose the most effective algorithm to apply, it also offers a system for comparing algorithm performance in terms of speed and accuracy.

It gives the RTA the authority to create AI use cases, incorporate them into multiple platforms including websites and mobile applications, assess the effectiveness of machine learning models, and put in place a methodology to analyse AI model results. Additionally, it makes sure AI models do not make choices that are inconsistent with the ethics and standards established by the Dubai Digital Authority.
