NewsThe "1 Billion Meals Endowment" campaign, started by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to create the largest Ramadan sustainable food aid endowment fund. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced a Dh5 million contribution to the campaign.
The campaign, which is being run by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and falls during the holy month, aims to mobilise local, regional, and global efforts to implement sustainable initiatives aimed at battling and eradicating hunger within a sustainable framework.
"The "1 Billion Meals Endowment" campaign embodies HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of sustainable charity and his approach to extending aid to those in need globally," said Mattar Al Tayer, Director General Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA. The RTA is very proud to support the "1 Billion Meals Endowment" initiative, which is the largest endowment fund for sustainable food assistance.
Based on its inherent humanity and ethical dedication to the entire world, the UAE conveys a message of unity and compassion for all less fortunate people.
The campaign seeks to support the world's most vulnerable populations, particularly those who have been affected by natural disasters and armed conflicts, as well as to provide a safety net for food to underprivileged populations in nations that struggle with food insecurity. In line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, it strengthens the UAE's support for international initiatives targeted at eradicating hunger.
