Residents can enjoy limited-edition items, special events, discounted Nol cards, and more as part of Dubai Metros 15th-anniversary

Residents of Dubai Metro can anticipate cheap Nol cards, special events, limited-edition merchandise, and more as the company marks 15 years in business. One of Dubai's most recognisable public transport options is the Metro, and for many locals who have seen it evolve, the station announcement brings back fond memories. The first time the autonomous train derailed was on September 9, 2009 (09/09/09). 

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai will commemorate the milestone with a variety of entertainment events, surprises, and programs under the theme "15 Years on Track," hoping to cheer up locals and tourists from across the globe.

Metro's 15th-anniversary celebration includes the following events: 

- Limited edition post stamps will be issued by Emirates Post. 

- A special edition Nol card with an exclusive design by Lego Middle East and a 15th-anniversary campaign logo will be available. Igloo ice cream in the shape of Metros will be served in limited quantities; registration is required via the RTA website. On the sticks of 5,000 of these ice cream cones will be a unique code that can be scanned to be entered to win one of 5,000 Nol Terhaal discount certificates.

- A 'Metro Babies' event will be held for kids born on September 9 (from 2009 to 2023). 

- The 4th Dubai Metro Music Festival, hosted by Brand Dubai, features musical performances by Emirati and international artists at metro stations from September 21 to September 27.

- Legoland Dubai will host a celebration on September 21, 2024.
