Recently launched Pravasi Protection Plan is specifically tailored for the Indian workforce in the UAE

In an effort to better serve the Indian workers in the UAE, who frequently lack a safety net, the Indian Consulate, Orient Insurance, and Gargash Insurance Services recently created the Pravasi Protection Plan (PPP). In essence, the Pravasi Protection Plan (PPP) provides group life insurance that goes beyond covering for accidents at work to include natural deaths and unintentional disabilities, guaranteeing global coverage that protects participants.

A research conducted by the Indian Consulate found that every year between 1,500 and 2,000 Indian workers in the UAE pass away from diseases or natural causes, leaving their families in a precarious financial situation. Corporates, start-ups, micro, small, and medium-sized businesses are all eligible for the Pravasi Protection Plan (PPP), which requires a minimum of five Indian employees or ten employees of other nationalities, aged between 18 and 70. 

Annual charges range from Dh37 to Dh72 and provide features including global coverage for workers with work permits in the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, the policy pays for compensation ranging from Dh35,000 to Dh75,000, depending on the coverage, repatriation fees (for death only) up to Dh12,000 per person, and permanent complete or partial disability resulting from accidents.

The Pravasi Protection Plan (PPP), which was introduced on March 1st, 2024, has attracted a lot of interest from UAE-based businesses and is expected to cover about 20,000 lives.
