NewsA new system has been launched by Ras Al Khaimah's transport authority Rakta by which taxis can now be booked by scanning QR codes, that are placed around the emirate. This supports the authority's mission of "pioneering in regulating the transport sector and ensuring the provision of safe, reliable, and smart transport services." The QR code booking system, which operates depending on the customer's location, has been introduced to offer new clever and inventive channels to request taxi services.
The service's uniqueness was confirmed by Mohamed Hashem Esmaeel, Director of Control and Operation Department, who also described the procedure. The consumer submits personal information after scanning the QR code with their smartphone. After automatically locating the consumer, the system sends requests to any nearby taxis that are available. The cabs have smart metres that can hear the request. Then, from the cab, the driver may reply to it.
The pre-order service is now being expanded to better serve consumers and enhance the quality of life in the emirate. It was first provided at hospitals and health facilities throughout the whole emirate.
