Ras Al Khaimah Police announced new rules pertaining to vehicle impoundment on March 6

The Ras Al Khaimah Police on March 6, 2024, released new guidelines on car impoundment in an effort to let drivers know about the new laws. The authorities have posted these incidents on Instagram under the title "Executive Council Resolution No. (2) of 2024 regarding certain cases of vehicle seizure."

The full list below of fines are mentioned below:

  • Driving while intoxicated or using a fictitious licence plate; 120-day car impoundment and Dh20,000 for recovery
  • Driving a vehicle without a driving license – for the first offence: 30 days impoundment, Dh3,000 penalty to release vehicle; for repeated violation within the same year: vehicle to be impounded for 60 days, Dh6,000 penalty to release vehicle
  • If you load water without a licence, your car will be impounded for 30 days and you will have to pay Dh1,000 to recover it. If you load water again in the same year, your car will be impounded for 60 days and you will have to pay Dh2,000 to release it.
  • Riding a recreational bike in a prohibited place or driving it recklessly carries a 90-day vehicle seizure notice and a Dh3,000 fine to get the vehicle back.
  • Taking part in a procession: a fine of Dh1,000 to Dh10,000 dirhams or 15 to 120 days of vehicle impoundment, as instructed by the Commander-in-Chief's judgement 
  • Violators who race on public roads without first obtaining police permission risk a Dh10,000 fine or having their vehicles impounded for 90 days.
  • Impounding a motorbike or electric bike for 15 days and charging Dh2,000 to release the vehicle for reckless riding
  • Riding a standard bicycle in a manner that endangers other people carries a 15-day detention period and a Dh500 fine before the vehicle is released.
  • Endangering life by parading in sandy, coastal, or tourist regions; the vehicle will be held for 120 days and will cost Dh10,000 to be retrieved.
  • The car will be impounded for 60 days and will cost Dh5,000 to be retrieved in case of posting or reposting a car that violates the law.
  • Covering number plate: fine Dh5,000, recovery after 30 days of impoundment
  • Apply reflective stickers to the car or shade it when driving or standing; the car will be impounded for 30 days and will cost Dh3,000 to be released.
  • Fake number plate: impoundment for 60 days with a Dh5,000 recovery fee

  • Changing a vehicle's speed or noise level will result in a 60-day detention period and a Dh5,000 release fee.
  • Willfully colliding with a police vehicle: The car will be held for 120 days and will require payment of Dh10,000 in order to be released.
  • A vehicle may be held for up to 60 days and a maximum penalty of Dh5,000, in certain cases directed by the Commander-in-Chief. 
  • Operating a vehicle in a way that endangers the environment or in a tourist area: the vehicle will be detained for 30 days and will require a Dh3,000 fee to be released; if the crime is committed again, the vehicle will be held for 60 days and will require a Dh6,000 fee to be released.
  • The impoundment period is 30 days if the fines surpass Dh10,000. In order to get the car back, the owner must pay the outstanding fines. 
  • Violators who leave their cars alone will have to pay Dh1,000 to have them retrieved after a 15-day period. 
  • When automobiles are shown for sale in other nations, there is a 10-day vehicle impoundment period or a Dh1,000 retrieval penalty. • 
  • A vehicle may be held for up to 60 days and a maximum penalty of Dh5,000, as specified by the Commander-in-Chief. 
  • If any of the Commander-in-Chief's electronic cases are violated, the car will either need to be impounded for the previous ruling or pay a fine ranging from Dh100 to Dh5,000.
