Public parking will be free on January 1, 2024; paid parking free to use on Sundays in Dubai

During the upcoming long weekend, drivers in Dubai will get two days of free parking. On January 1, 2024, the first day of the new year, public parking will be free, according to a statement by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). On Sundays, parking is free in Dubai.

Multilevel terminals are not eligible for free parking. The parking charge will be in effect again on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

To commemorate the new year, residents will get a three-day weekend. Monday, January 1 is a public holiday. That's a three-day break when added to the Saturday-Sunday weekend.

RTA service timings:

• Dubai Metro: Red and Green lines will operate on December 31, 2023, at 8 a.m., and on January 1, 2024, until 11:59 p.m.
• Dubai Tram: From 9 am on December 31, 2023, to 1 am on January 2, 2024.
• On January 1, customer service and technical testing facilities will be closed.
