Private schools across Dubai are set to close on April 20 to mark the start of Eid Al Fitr holidays

Private schools in Dubai will all be closed starting tomorrow to celebrate the beginning of the extended Eid Al Fitr weekend. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) of the emirate tweeted that the private schools' Eid holiday will start on Thursday, April 20, and run through the third of Shawwal.

After the moon is seen on Thursday, April 20, the start of the Shawwal month will be determined. The tweet concluded, "From the entire staff at KHDA, we wish you have a nice break.

The crescent moon will be visible on Thursday evening, April 20, which falls on Ramadan 29 (1444 AH) in the Islamic calendar. The UAE has requested that all Muslims in the nation do so.

The sighting of the Shawwal crescent would signal the conclusion of the fast-month of Ramadan and the start of Eid al-Fitr. The UAE's moon sighting committee has asked anyone who witnesses a crescent to call 026921166 so they can be led to the closest court where their evidence can be recorded.

Eid will be proclaimed on Friday, April 21 if the moon is seen on Thursday, April 20. Eid will begin on April 22 if the moon cannot be seen. Depending on the date the crescent is seen, residents of the UAE will receive either a four-day or a five-day holiday.

Since the Eid break fell between May 2 and May 9, 2022, last year's pupils in the emirate had an especially long vacation. This amounted to a total of nine days off, including the weekends.
