Platform launched to enable the public to report economic crimes aiming to enhance community engagement in flagging such crimes

The Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has developed a website for the public to report economic offences. The measure is intended to increase community involvement in reporting such crimes, considering their negative consequences for the larger community, the business sector in general, and the national economy as a whole. The opening ceremony was conducted on the margins of the second edition of the Al Ameen Forum, which opened on Monday at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) under the topic 'Security as the Pillar of the Modern Economy ... The Fourth Industrial Revolution'.

Sheikh Mansoor praised all efforts to strengthen security measures in order to defend the economies of Dubai and the UAE, emphasising the need of increasing community engagement in preserving the national economy. He stated that such involvement will strengthen the procedures in place to tackle such crimes. He also stressed the need of remaining vigilant in the face of difficulties that may stymie attempts to capitalise on the benefits of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digital transformation. He emphasised Dubai's commitment to eliminating all potential barriers to growth and development.

Sheikh Mansoor went on to say that Dubai strives to maintain the highest standards and worldwide best practises in economic security, in keeping with its position as a global commercial and financial centre. This pledge, he noted, offers the greatest degree of protection for Dubai's distinct development model, which has fostered corporate growth and solid public-private partnerships.

The Economic Security Centre of Dubai's new platform for reporting economic crimes aims to increase community involvement and interaction among citizens, residents, and tourists. It also provides as an extra avenue for reporting economic crimes like money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery, forgery, and embezzlement that may have an impact on Dubai's economy or resources. Those who report such offences must provide proof pointing to the infractions if they are aware of them. In the interest of proper legal procedure, members of the public should refrain from conducting their own investigations to gather evidence, since this obligation is entirely vested in licenced bodies entrusted with following up on occurrences reported to the centre.

According to Faisal bin Selaitin, Executive Director of the Economic Security Centre of Dubai, the platform's debut underlines the UAE leadership's commitment to protecting Dubai's economy and strengthening the economic security apparatus. To promote full public engagement, Selaitin stated that the confidentially of all people who come forward to report such crimes will be maintained. The platform's introduction is in line with the center's efforts to proactively preserve the local economy and deliver unique services in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 objective of cementing the city's status as one of the world's top economic centres. The Dubai Economic Security Centre was founded in 2016 to reinforce the emirate's legal and economic security framework, as well as to combat corruption and economic crimes.
