NewsParents have begun receiving notifications from Dubai schools about re-enrollment for the next academic year. Some institutions have re-registration costs of up to Dh4,000 per child. This is particularly the case for schools that have ratings ranging from "Very Good" to "Outstanding," depending on the student's grade.
Early re-enrollment reminders, according to schools, allow them to fairly and comfortably handle the growing number of families on their waiting lists. By September, though, parents are unsure about their family's situation, which makes it difficult for them to commit to an early re-enrollment date.
In order to secure a spot for their children for the upcoming academic year, schools may request that parents pay a non-refundable re-registration deposit, according to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the emirate's regulatory body for education. This deposit, which is deducted from the total tuition prices for the academic year, may not exceed 5% of the total tuition fees or Dh500, whichever is larger.
