Owners of means of transporting goods and trucks registered in the UAE are to register in the Electronic National System for Tracking Trucks and Shipments before October 30

Owners of trucks and other cargo-moving equipment with registrations in the United Arab Emirates are urged to register in the Electronic National System for Tracking Trucks and Shipments during the authorised registration period, which runs through October 30, 2023.

The National System for Tracking Trucks and Shipments is one of the newest customs projects, according to Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Authority. It is intended to support the country's customs security system, facilitate trade, and increase security and road safety by monitoring the movement of trucks and shipments in the country from the first port of entry until it reaches its final destination through electronic means.

In line with the Authority's strategy to support the system of customs control over the movement of trucks and shipments, ensure their safe arrival at the designated time, and keep an eye out for potential violations and abuses, including:

  • Restricted material transport trucks
  • Goods with high customs duties transport trucks
  • Transit trucks
  • Hazardous materials transport trucks

Al Khalili continued that the authority is eager to provide conveniences for the owners of means of transporting goods registered in the country by giving them a period to resolve their conditions and register, provided that the period ends on October 30, 2023, as administrative financial fines will be applied to those who fail to register during the required period in accordance with the regulations and decisions approved in this regard. This penalty will be 1,000 dirhams for the first month and 100 dirhams for each succeeding month, up to a total of 5,000 dirhams.

The target groups are responsible for registering in the system by submitting registration requests through the website https://register.entsts.ae on behalf of the licence holder or his legal representative, along with the necessary supporting documentation (such as a vehicle licence, a business activity certificate, a truck registration number, etc.). The next step is to schedule an appointment for the applicant to have the tracking devices installed on the truck by a specialised company, after which the truck enters the system and becomes subject to the nation's tracking and monitoring system. Owners of vehicles used for transporting goods, such as transit trucks, trucks used to transport hazardous materials, trucks used to transport restricted materials, trucks used to transport goods with high customs duties, and any other trucks determined by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security, are among the groups concerned with registration in the system.
