During the month of Ramadan, the government of Abu Dhabi established the official working hours for employees in the public sector. From Monday through Thursday, government workers will be in the office from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work hours on Fridays are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Furthermore, Fridays will see the activation of remote working for up to 70% of all government workers whose professions do not need them to be in the office.
The official working hours for public sector employees during Ramadan were declared by the UAE. Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) announced on Monday that federal employees will work 1.5 hours fewer on Friday and 3.5 hours less from Monday through Thursday.
All government departments and ministries will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. throughout the Islamic holy month. Working hours on Fridays are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., unless the nature of the work requires an alternative schedule.
During the Islamic holy month, employees in the private sector will work two less hours, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE).
In line with the nature of their job and within the constraints of the daily working hours set during the holy month, companies might choose to adopt flexible or remote work schedules.
