News environmental research network has been launched in Abu Dhabi; aims to accelerate climate solutions and address environmental challenges

In order to hasten the development of climate solutions and tackle urgent issues like pollution and biodiversity loss, a new environmental research network has been established in Abu Dhabi. The council discussed a number of significant topics, including the regulatory frameworks for the media sector and the objectives of media programmes developed to develop the sector, particularly those related to upskilling media and creative talent to further enhance their role in advancing industry success in line with global trends.

The Abu Dhabi Environmental Research Network (ADERN), created and run by EAD, focuses on the emirate's needs for environmental research and works with other environmental stakeholders, such as representatives from the Abu Dhabi government and business, to maintain and improve the region's environmental sustainability.

The climate science-policy topic will be addressed by ADERN by utilising research resources for multidisciplinary multi-sectoral collaboration. The Abu Dhabi Environmental Research Needs Register, a comprehensive list of more than 200 research requirements, and an enviroportal collecting data from its 25 years of research were produced by EAD to assist the research initiatives of ADERN. The hundreds of environmental researchers and related innovators, together with research facilities, projects, and events, will be listed in an environmental research directory.

Additionally, a groundbreaking invention called the Environmental Knowledge Graph System has been created to examine and convey the causal connections between people and the environment as well as the effects of changing the environment on human well-being. Together, these tools will assist interested parties in reaching choices that are based on research and solve the environmental issues the Emirate is now facing. The network operates with the motto ‘Convene, Converge, Collaborate’.

Eight universities, including Abu Dhabi University, Al Ain University, American University of Sharjah, Khalifa University, NYU Abu Dhabi, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), and Zayed University, have joined ADERN as founding institutional members.
