New road improvement project will ease traffic in Dubai and cut travel time by up to 70 per cent in key corridors

A recent road repair project is expected to reduce traffic in Dubai and travel times in important corridors, such as those leading to Sharjah, by as much as 70%. There will be four bridges built as part of the Garn Al Sabkha-Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed roads junction development project, spanning roughly three km. As of Sunday, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) declared that fifty percent of the project was finished.

The project is a component of a larger initiative to modernise Garn Al Sabkha Street, which connects Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed and Sheikh Zayed roads. The design will provide smooth traffic movement between First Al Khail and Al Asayel streets and the two roads.

When the project opens, vehicles travelling from Garn Al Sabkha Street to Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road in the direction of Al Qusais and Sharjah would see a 40% reduction in travel time.

The first bridge is being constructed near the junction of Al Asayel and Garn Al Sabkha streets. The traffic flow between Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed roads is facilitated by the two-lane bridge.

The second one handles traffic travelling westward on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road towards Al Qusais and Sharjah from Garn Al Sabkha Street.

The third will help to overcome traffic that overlaps when travelling north on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road towards Al Yalayis Road and Jebel Ali Port.

In the fourth, traffic overlap is removed between Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road and the service road that leads to Dubai Production City's gates.
