NewsHis Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has signed a bill creating the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC) in his position as Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The council will be in charge of creating and carrying out policies and plans for Abu Dhabi's infrastructure, research, and investments in cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence.
Additionally, Sheikh Mohamed released a resolution designating the council's members. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan was named Chairman of the AIATC by the Ruler's decision, while Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was named Vice-Chairman. Peng Xiao, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, and Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai were also named as council members by the resolution.
The formation of the council is indicative of a strong conviction in the role that technical leadership will play in creating the future economy. The council aims to elevate Abu Dhabi's standing in the domains of advanced technology and artificial intelligence by formulating strategies and research initiatives in conjunction with regional and international collaborators. It is a good fit with Abu Dhabi's plan to establish the emirate as the global centre for partnerships, investments, and talent in the field. The council will support and guarantee the post-hydrocarbon economy's continuous growth and prosperity.
